Most Pools and Beaches Opening Memorial Day Weekend at Kentucky State Parks

FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 20, 2019) – Memorial Day Weekend is the traditional opening date for Kentucky State Park pools and beaches. Most pools and beaches will be opening.

Lodge pools are reserved for lodge and cottage guests. Community pools at Greenbo Lake, Carter Caves, Levi Jackson, Blue Licks Battlefield, Cumberland Falls, E.P. “Tom” Sawyer, Kincaid Lake, Natural Bridge and Fort Boonesborough state parks charge a fee and are open to the public.

The park system’s 10 beaches are open to the public at no charge. The beaches are located at Pennyrile Forest, Lake Barkley, Kentucky Dam Village, Barren River Lake, Buckhorn Lake, Rough River Dam, Lake Malone, Nolin Lake, Carr Creek and Green River Lake state parks.

There are indoor pools at Lake Barkley and Lake Cumberland state resort parks. The Lake Cumberland pool recently re-opened following repairs.

Barren River Lake State Resort Park’s lodge pool will open in mid-June following repair work. The park’s beach will open May 24. E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park’s pool is scheduled to open June 1. Levi Jackson State Park’s pool opening and Lake Barkley’s beach opening will also be delayed.
