Court Facilities Committee to meet Aug. 8 to discuss judicial center projects for Clinton, Barren and other counties

FRANKFORT, Ky., Aug. 7, 2023 – The Court Facilities Standards Committee will meet Tuesday, Aug. 8, to review judicial center projects for Clinton, Barren and other counties. The meeting will take place at 8 a.m. CDT/9 a.m. EDT on Zoom and will be livestreamed on the Kentucky Court of Justice YouTube channel at kcoj.info/KCOJYouTube. The committee will discuss proposed designs and other items for new judicial centers in Clinton and Barren counties. The group will get updates on judicial center projects under way in Bath, Butler, Crittenden, Graves, Jessamine, Leslie, Madison, Oldham and Scott counties. The new HVAC system for the Hardin County Justice Center and carpet replacement for the Jefferson County Judicial Center are also on the agenda for discussion.

The CFSC is a 10-member body of representatives from the Kentucky Judicial, Executive and Legislative branches of government and a county official appointed by the governor. The committee reviews design plans, cost estimates and financing proposals for new court facilities statewide. The committee operates under the auspices of the Administrative Office of the Courts, which is the operations arm of the Kentucky Court of Justice. The KCOJ is the Judicial Branch of state government. The AOC Division of Capital Construction oversees court facility construction throughout the commonwealth.

Chief Justice of the Commonwealth Laurance B. VanMeter chairs the committee. Members are AOC Director Katie C. Comstock, Sen. Whitney Westerfield as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Rep. Daniel Elliott as chairman of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, Teresa L. Walker with the Finance and Administration Cabinet as the cabinet secretary’s designee and Todd County Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield as the county official appointed by the governor. Committee members appointed by the Supreme Court of Kentucky are Court of Appeals Judge Allison Jones, Chief Circuit Judge John T. Alexander (serves Barren and Metcalfe counties), Chief District Judge Amy S. Anderson (serves Green, Marion, Taylor and Washington counties) and Trimble County Circuit Court Clerk Stacy M. Bruner as president of the Kentucky Association of Circuit Court Clerks.

Administrative Office of the Courts
The AOC is based in Frankfort and supports the activities of nearly 3,300 employees and 413 elected justices, judges and circuit court clerks statewide. The AOC also executes the Judicial Branch budget.
