Distribution and supply chain leader will add 64 jobs while retaining 182 jobs at existing Louisville plant
FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 6, 2026) – Today, Gov. Andy Beshear highlighted continued development in the state’s distribution and logistics sector as Averitt, one of the nation’s leading transportation and supply chain management providers, announced it will build a new regional campus in Bullitt County.
The expansion will include investment that could exceed $113 million and allow the Tennessee-based company to add 64 associates over the next four years and retain 182 associates at its existing Louisville location.
“Kentucky’s distribution and logistics sector continues to help fuel our red-hot economy and create good jobs for our people,” said Gov. Beshear. “Our talented workforce, incentive programs, unique location and speed-to-market resources are helping make the commonwealth an attractive destination for shipping companies looking to locate or expand. The development will serve as home to Averitt’s entire regional operation, a single integrated campus that brings together all five of the company’s service units: less-than-truckload (LTL), truckload, dedicated, distribution and fulfillment, and integrated services.
The campus will include:
- A two-story, 10,000-square-foot regional office with training and collaboration space;
- A 50,000-square-foot, 100-door cross-dock, expandable to 160 doors;
- A warehouse totaling more than 286,000 square feet of distribution and fulfillment space; and
- Parking for more than 300 trailers, plus fleet maintenance, fueling and driver support facilities to elevate the day-to-day experience of its drivers
Construction on the campus is expected to begin immediately and be completed in 2028. While company leaders noted numbers are still being refined, the development could top more than $113 million in investment when everything is built.
The new campus will replace the 40,000-square-foot service center Averitt currently operates at 4020 McCollum Court. Averitt is celebrating its 44th year of operation in Bullitt County, having opened its first local office in 1982.

New positions will include local and over-the-road drivers, dock associates, diesel mechanics, sales, administrative support and other logistics professionals. According to the company, a significant number of the new positions will not require a college or advanced degree and will be supported by on-the-job training, leadership development tracks and clear advancement opportunities.
Bullitt County Judge/Executive Jerry Summers spoke on the positive impact of the project: “The $113 million investment by Averitt Express is a game-changer for Bullitt County. By choosing the I-65 and Brooks Hill Road corridor for their new Regional Logistics Campus, Averitt isn’t just building a warehouse – they are establishing a long-term home for 64 high-quality jobs and regional leadership. This project secures our position as a premier logistics hub, modernizes our infrastructure and provides a scalable platform for economic growth that will benefit our families and local economy for decades to come.”
Hillview Mayor James Eadens thanked the company for the investment: “As Mayor of Hillview, I’m proud to welcome Averitt’s investment in a new Regional Logistics Campus along the I-65 corridor. This project brings new jobs and opportunities to our residents while strengthening Bullitt County’s role as a key logistics hub. We appreciate Averitt’s commitment to our community.”
Keith Griffee, director of Bullitt County Community and Economic Development, mentioned the partnership that made the project possible: “Working with Mayor Eadens, Judge Summers and Louisville Mayor Greenburg to bring this $113 million investment into the north end of the county shows how valuable a regional approach is. Bullitt County Community and Economic Development, the City of Hillview and One Louisville all working toward a common goal to strengthen both Bullitt and Jefferson counties.”
Averitt’s investment and job creation furthers what has been the best six-year period for economic growth in state history.
Since the beginning of his administration, Gov. Beshear has announced more than 1,300 private-sector new-location and expansion projects totaling over $50 billion in announced investments, creating more than 70,000 jobs. This is the highest investment figure secured during the tenure of any governor in the commonwealth’s history and $29 billion more than the next highest total.
Gov. Beshear has announced some of the largest economic development projects in state history, which have solidified Kentucky as the battery capital of the United States: AESC’s $2 billion, 2,000-job gigafactory project in Warren County; Ford Motor Co.’s $2 billion, 2,200-job commitment in Louisville, as well as its $2 billion, 2,100-job project at the Kentucky 1 plant in Hardin County; Shelbyville Battery Manufacturing’s $712 million investment, creating 1,572 jobs in Shelby County; and Toyota’s $1.3 billion investment in Scott County, among others.
The Governor’s administration also secured the largest General Fund budget surplus and Rainy Day Fund. In 2023, Kentucky recorded over 2 million jobs filled for the first time ever and has stayed above that number ever since.
Kentucky also secured rating increases from major credit rating agencies Fitch Ratings, S&P Global Ratings and Moody’s Investors Service.
Earlier this year, Site Selection magazine ranked Kentucky in the top five nationally and second in the South Central region for economic development projects per capita in its 2024 Governor’s Cup rankings. Site Selection also placed Kentucky second in the South Central region and No. 6 nationally in its 2025 Prosperity Cup ranking, which recognizes state-level economic development agencies for their success in landing capital investment projects.
Gov. Beshear also announced a new initiative, called New Kentucky Home, to increase economic investment, attain and attract talent and increase tourism across the state.
To encourage investment and job growth in the community, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) today preliminarily approved a 15-year incentive agreement with the company under the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based agreement can provide up to $2 million in tax incentives based on the company’s investment of $113 million and annual targets of:
- Creation and maintenance of 64 Kentucky-resident, full-time jobs across 15 years; and
- Paying an average hourly wage of $43.60, including benefits, across those jobs.
By meeting its annual targets over the agreement term, the company can be eligible to keep a portion of the new tax revenue it generates. The company may claim eligible incentives against its income tax liability and/or wage assessments.
In addition, Averitt can receive resources from Kentucky’s workforce service providers. Those include no-cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced-cost customized training and job-training incentives.
