Gov. Beshear Orders Flags to Half-Staff Monday in Honor of Elliott County Firefighter

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 15, 2024) – Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state buildings to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Monday, March 18, in honor of an Elliott County firefighter who died in the line of duty.

Roy Franklin Whitt, age 72, of the Route 504 Volunteer Fire Department in Elliott County died Tuesday, March 12, as a result of injuries sustained in an accident while on duty.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. EDT Monday in the Elliott County High School gymnasium in Sandy Hook. Interment will follow at Porter Cemetery in Bruin.
