FRANKFORT, Ky. (Aug. 26, 2024) – Department of Corrections (DOC) Commissioner Cookie Crews today announced the promotion of Beth Moore to director of the Division of Public Affairs-Communications, Legislative Liaison, Research, and Grants.
“Beth Moore has excelled at every job she’s had in DOC,” said Crews. “She is the ideal person for this position and will provide outstanding leadership to this division.”
Moore began her Corrections career at the Marion Adjustment Center, a private prison in Marion County. She transitioned to DOC in 2004 as a correctional officer at Northpoint Training Center (NTC). She was later promoted to classification and treatment officer and then unit administrator. Moore worked at NTC, Blackburn Correctional Complex, and Frankfort Career Development Center (FCDC), working there until its closure in 2011.
At that time, Moore was promoted to systems analyst II in the IT Branch in Central Office. She was promoted to systems analyst III in 2012 and then systems consultant in 2013. In January 2019, Moore took on the duties of IT branch manager for the department. In March 2023, Moore was promoted to staff assistant in Research, Grants, and Legislative Services in Central Office.
Moore was a member of the Corrections Emergency Response Team for several years. In addition to being a member of the Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency (KCCD) for the past 20 years, Moore served as KCCD state board president, state treasurer, Herrington Lake Chapter president and Capitol Chapter president. She was also an adjunct instructor at Campbellsville University.
A 2002 graduate of the University of Kentucky, Moore received her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She went on to receive a master’s degree in correctional and juvenile justice from Eastern Kentucky University in 2008. She is a 2008 recipient of the FCDC Achievement Award, 2020 Division of Support Services Achievement Award, and the 2022 Synergy Award.
