FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 25, 2024) – Division of Corrections Training Acting Director Kenny Talbott has announced Derek Inman as the new branch manager for the Southern Region Training Center in Boyle County.
"Derek Inman brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience to the role,” said Talbott. “He has consistently taken opportunities to enhance his understanding of corrections. His outstanding communication abilities will undoubtedly make him an excellent branch manager."
Inman began his corrections career in February 2013 as a correctional officer at Northpoint Training Center. In September 2013, he attended the Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Academy and later became the assistant squad leader for Northpoint’s CERT team. In 2014, he graduated from Northpoint’s Future Leadership Program.
In 2015, he promoted to administrative specialist II and worked in the mailroom until May 2017, when he promoted to administrative specialist III. During this time, he also served as the policy and procedures officer and ACA accreditation manager for the Division of Corrections Training. In 2017, Inman was nominated for the Commissioner’s Executive Leadership program, which he successfully completed in May 2018.
In October 2018, Inman was promoted to instructor I at the Southern Region Training Center. In August 2023, he was promoted to instructor II within the curriculum branch of the Training Division.
Inman previously earned an associate degree in criminal justice from Somerset Community College and is currently pursuing a psychology major at Eastern Kentucky University, with plans to graduate in December. Inman is a 2023 recipient of a Commissioner’s Award.
