FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jun. 10, 2024) – Green River Correctional Complex (GRCC) received a near perfect audit score on its recent re-accreditation audit with the American Correctional Association (ACA). The prison achieved a total score of 99.6%. This marks the 10th accreditation in the history of the institution.
GRCC is a medium/minimum-security facility located in Central City, with an operational capacity of 982.
“I am proud of the accomplishments of the staff at GRCC,” said DOC Division Director Janet Conover. “ACA re-accreditation is an intense process and requires the facility to adhere to hundreds of standards for adult correctional facilities.”
In announcing the scores, Audit Chairperson Michael Graziano was especially complimentary of GRCC’s staff, specifically their camaraderie. “While conducting an audit I often ask myself if I could work there. I could definitely work at this facility,” said Graziano.
GRCC Warden Tim Lane praised his staff for the accomplishment. “The staff at GRCC deserve all the recognition for this successful audit,” he said. “They have experienced trying times during this audit cycle. But as GRCC staff have for the past 30 years, they strive for excellence day in and day out and the results prove outstanding each time.”
This ACA accreditation consisted of approximately 573 standards that covered security, operational and programming aspects of the prison. Each of Kentucky’s prisons are audited by ACA every three years and have a program security review every year. Kentucky has been a member of ACA since the early 1980s.
