Bell County Forestry Camp Receives a Perfect Audit Score

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 2, 2022) – Bell County Forestry Camp (BCFC) received a perfect audit score on its recent re-accreditation audit with the American Correctional Association (ACA). The prison received its initial accreditation in 1990 and this 100% audit score marks the prison’s 12th accreditation in the history of the institution.

BCFC is a minimum-security facility located in Pineville, Kentucky, with an inmate population of 300.

“Congratulations to BCFC staff on this significant achievement,” said Deputy Commissioner Randy White. “Receiving a perfect score is impressive. This shows the high level of hard work and commitment of staff to meet ACA’s rigorous standards.”

In announcing the scores, Audit Chairperson Gregory Knowlin was especially complimentary of BCFC. “We know you have worked very hard to maintain the status of being accredited and it showed from day one when we arrived at the facility. Achieving 100% compliance is an amazing accomplishment and you have worked very hard to get that score.”

BCFC Warden Brandy Harm praised her staff for the accomplishment. “I am extremely proud of the staff’s hard work and dedication. They strive day in and out to do their jobs to the best of their abilities, which is evidenced by the audit team’s findings. It truly takes everyone working as a team to meet the ACA 5th edition’s extensive requirements.”

This ACA accreditation consisted of approximately 573 standards that covered security, operational, and programming aspects of the prison. Each of Kentucky’s prisons are audited by ACA every three years and have a program security review every year. Kentucky has been a member of ACA since the early 1980s.
