Community Corrections Grants designed to provide alternatives to incarceration
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 3, 2022) – Today the Kentucky State Corrections Commission (SCC) announced that applications for the 2023 Community Corrections Grant are now being accepted. The deadline for submitting applications through IGX, the online grants management system, is Feb. 28, 2022.
Community Corrections Grants are designed to provide alternatives to incarceration and assist local agencies in providing treatment, rehabilitation, and restitution opportunities.
The Kentucky SCC was created to administer grant money, as well as develop and implement a statewide strategic plan for state and community corrections programs. Community corrections programs can reduce expenditures of state funds by allowing individuals to remain in their local communities while they participate in home incarceration, work release, treatment, and employment training. These opportunities can help reduce recidivism and break the cycle of repeated incarcerations.
