Lindsey Smith Promoted to District 12 Assistant Supervisor

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 5, 2021) – Kentucky Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Director Erica Hargis announced today the promotion of Lindsey Smith to assistant supervisor in District 12. District 12 covers Anderson, Carroll, Franklin, Gallatin, Grant, Henry, Oldham, Owen, Shelby, Spencer, and Trimble counties. Smith will be located in the Carrollton office.

“Lindsey Smith is a career employee who brings valuable experience to this new role. He is recognized by his co-workers and supervisors as knowledgeable, loyal, dedicated, and well rounded,” said Hargis. “Smith’s years of experience and professionalism are absolute assets to this department and will serve him well in this capacity. I am proud to welcome him to the District 12 supervisory team and the overall leadership of the division. I know he will continue to make a positive impact going forward.”  

 

Smith began his career with the Department of Corrections as a correctional officer at Roederer Correctional Complex in January 2007. In December 2008, Smith promoted to a probation and parole officer I, managing a regular felony caseload in Louisville’s District 16. He held that position until February 2012 when he returned to RCC as a lieutenant. In this role he served as the security threat group (STG) coordinator and worked in Internal Affairs. He also gained experience as a classification and treatment officer while working at the facility. Smith trained as a PREA investigator and was an active member of the Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT).

In May 2014, Smith returned to Probation and Parole, working in the LaGrange office. As a parole officer, he has served as a member of the state audit team, a field training officer, and trained fentanyl collector.

A graduate of the University of Louisville, Smith obtained his bachelor’s degree in justice administration in 2006. He was the recipient of the Officer of the Year Award for District 12 in 2016.
