FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 15, 2021) – Kentucky Department of Corrections Division of Reentry Services Director Kristin Porter announced today the promotion of Dan Goyette to branch manager for the western region. Goyette has been special detailed to the position since 2019, with the primary responsibility of supervising reentry staff who work in the western region of the state.
“Dan Goyette’s varied experience in the department will be a true asset to the leadership team in the Division of Reentry Services,” said Porter. “He has worked very hard serving in the branch manager’s role while detailed and has shown tremendous value in his vast knowledge of reentry.”
Goyette began his career with the department in 2009 as a correctional officer at the Kentucky State Reformatory. Beginning in 2010, he promoted to the Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women (KCIW), working as a recreation leader, offender information specialist, and classification and treatment officer in the Assessment Center. In 2013, Goyette promoted to a unit administrator I where he supervised the Paws with Purpose Program and served as the institution’s grievance coordinator. In 2014, Goyette was awarded supervisor of the quarter due to his role in assisting the institution’s rollout of PREA risk assessments for the entire population leading up to a PREA audit. He was promoted to a unit administrator II the next year, supervising several different living units including the Restrictive Housing Unit and Mental Health/Medical Living Unit. During this time, he also gained FEMA Incident Command System certification and served as a PREA investigator.
In 2018, Goyette accepted a lateral transfer to the Division of Reentry Services as a reentry employment program administrator. In this role, Goyette assisted the population on probation and parole supervision within Jefferson County with employment services. As a position funded by the Kentucky Opioid Response Effort (KORE), he also provided additional support to anyone with an opioid use disorder. A critical part of this role was connecting with community partners to provide resources to clients on supervision.
A 2008 graduate of Michigan State University, Goyette earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He received a KCIW Achievement Award in 2014. He is a graduate of the 2013 I-LEAD program.
