CARROLLTON, Ky. -- General Butler State Resort Park is offering campground discounts to Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops from April 6-13, 2008. The promotion allows scout groups to pay for one night of camping and get a second night free.

Groups must call campground supervisor Danny Batts in advance to make a reservation.  The phone number is 502-732-4384 ext. 2417.

Located at Carrollton in northern Kentucky, General Butler State Resort Park was named as a tribute to one of Kentucky’s foremost military families. Named for General William Orlando Butler, the park attests to the military fame of the family that spans from colonial time through the American Revolution, the War of 1812, Mexican War and the Civil War.

The campground is open year round and offers 111 campsites with utility hookups and grills.  Showers and restrooms are available at two central service buildings.  The park features over six miles of trails, a 33 acre lake for fishing and boating, campfire circles, four playgrounds, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, a 9 Hole Golf Course, and Two Rivers Restaurant. An 18 Hole Miniature Golf Course can be available if scheduled with the Recreation Director. The Butler-Turpin State Historic House on the grounds is open for tours.
