LOUISA, Ky. –  Eagle Ridge Golf Course at Yatesville Lake State Park near Louisa will re-open on Thursday,  May 1.

The course was closed last fall because playing conditions had deteriorated due to the high temperatures, shortage of rainfall, and an unpredictable water supply.  The fairways were reseeded with bent grass and returned to their original condition that gave them a national ranking in 2005 for Best New Affordable Public Course by Golf Digest.  Despite the difficult conditions, the course’s maintenance staff successfully maintained the greens throughout last season.

The Arthur Hills’ “mountain masterpiece” design features a number of holes that overlook Yatesville Lake and the surrounding natural wooded areas. The course also opened a new clubhouse last year and features a new driving range.

“The combination of a solid, strategic golf course along with the inspiring scenery will bring golfers back to play time and time again,” said State Park Golf Director Dan Strohmeier.

The daily fee facility is located 10 miles off U.S. 23 in Lawrence County. It’s less than an hour away from Ashland and Huntington, W. Va.

Local patrons who purchased a 2007 season pass will receive a pro-rated credit upon purchasing their season pass for the 2008.  During the month of May, golf cart traffic will be restricted to cart paths only to allow the grass to mature.

            A re-opening ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, at 11 a.m. Guests will be able to tour the new driving range, clubhouse and reseeded course. The ceremony is open to the public.

            Yatesville Lake State Park also features a campground with 47 sites, a marina, boat ramps and a picnic area.
