DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. (Feb. 5, 2008) – Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is offering outdoors aficionados a chance to participate in naturalist-guided hikes on two Saturdays in March.

“Adventure Pennyrile Forest” offers a naturalist guided hike on half of the Pennyrile Nature Trail for a registration fee of $12 per person. Registration fee includes: transportation, a bottle of water, a snack, and Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park Patch.  Registered participants can get a 10% discount off park lodging.

The hike is in Pennyrile State Forest and Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park and is more than 6 miles. The trail rating is difficult.

 “We hope to hike the northern portion of the trail on March 15 and the southern portion on March 29,” said park naturalist Rebecca Clark. There must be at least five participants signed up one week in advance of the hike date for the hike to take place.

The same hikes will also take place Sept. 13 and 27, 2008.

Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park features a lodge, cottages, a campground, and the Clifty Creek Restaurant. Activities range from boating to fishing and golf.

The resort is 20 miles northwest of Hopkinsville, on KY. 109 N. From the Western Kentucky Parkway, exit at Dawson Springs and take KY 109 south.
