LUCAS, Ky. – If you’re looking for a bit of outdoor adventure, then Barren River Lake State Resort Park has something for you with spring around the corner.
The park will have a Beginner’s Overnight Backpacking Trip March 29-30.
Participants will hike a total of 8-10 miles over a two-day period carrying a 25-pound pack. All equipment is provided, so this is a great way to try before you buy. Participants will be introduced to “Leave No Trace” principals along the way.

And for youngsters, Barren River is holding Spring Break Adventure Camps during the week of March 31-April 4.
The one-day camps with different themes are for youths ages 8-12. The camps will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT. Participants can choose one of the four days; Nature by Design, Finding the Outdoors, Backwoods Adventure or Birds of a Feather for only $20 each or choose all four days for only $70. Registration deadline is March 21st. Space is limited. Registration will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Barren River Lake State Resort Park near Glasgow has a lodge, cottages, Driftwood Restaurant, golf course, fitness center, gift shop, fishing, picnic areas and hiking trails. The resort is located 44 miles southeast of Bowling Green. Take I-65 to the Cumberland Parkway east, to US 31E south.
