FRANKFORT, KY — The Kentucky Arts Council and the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts are partnering to present a workshop for arts and cultural organizations throughout Kentucky focused on making arts spaces accessible.
The workshop, Architecture, Accessibility and the Arts, is designed primarily to help organizations understand architectural obligations for accessible spaces and provide resources and information on accessibility. The Lexington Opera House and the City of Covington will be used as models for architectural accessibility, including discussion with the architects and the leadership responsible for the redesign of the Lexington Opera House.
Presenters are David Carter, AIA and Steve Brown of Sherman Carter Barnhart; Mary Lyons, Arts District Manager and Kathie Hickey, Renaissance Manager of the City of Covington; and Martha M. Newman, Director of Access Services, the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts.
Architecture, Accessibility and the Arts, will be held on Thursday, May 22, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. EDT at the Lexington Opera House, 401 West Short Street, Lexington, Ky. The workshop is free and open to anyone working or volunteering in the arts and cultural sector in Kentucky. Pre-registration is required.
