FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky Proud™ food producers will provide cooking demonstrations and describe the traditions that go into making their specialty products at the 2008 Kentucky Crafted: The Market, March 8-9, in South Wing B of the Kentucky Exposition Center, Louisville.
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s “Kentucky Proud” program supports local farmers in finding a market for their food products, which are grown, raised, or processed in Kentucky. Almost 1,000 producers and retailers are involved as members in the program.
Forty Kentucky Proud food vendors, eight of them new, are exhibiting at this year’s Market. Visitors can stop by their booths in the Kentucky Proud Food Products Marketplace and purchase locally-produced wines, cheeses, sauces and seasonings, candy, organic preserves and more.
On Saturday morning, Carla McDowell of McDowell Farms Salsa will kick-off the cooking demonstrations on the Blue Moon Stage (Aisle 400), followed by six other Kentucky Proud vendors that afternoon and Sunday on the Foodways Stage (Aisle 800):
McDowell Farms Salsa (Mason County, KY) specializes in homemade salsa made from local, fresh ingredients.
