Arts Council Offers Seminar to Foster the Arts in Communities across the Commonwealth

FRANKFORT, Ky- County extension agents, Renaissance and Main Street Program managers, Parks and Recreation directors, public librarians, local tourism directors and community arts coordinators are invited to learn about the programs and services of the Kentucky Arts Council at the Community Arts Coordinators Seminar, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., March 8, 2008 in conjunction with Kentucky Crafted: The Market, in Room B105, South Wing B at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.

 

The seminar focuses on grants, consulting programs, and resources for community arts events and the jurying process for various artist marketing programs of the Kentucky Arts Council. Participants will be treated to a reading by Kentucky Poet Laureate Jane Gentry Vance and musical performances by Saxton’s Cornet Band and solo guitarist Andrew Leonard. In the afternoon, participants will have the opportunity to tour Kentucky Crafted: The Market at a discounted rate and meet the producers of traditional and contemporary art and craft along with authentic folk art, Kentucky related books, musical recordings and specialty food products.

Kentucky Crafted: The Market is produced by the Kentucky Arts Council, a state agency in the Commerce Cabinet that creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Funding for the Kentucky Arts Council is provided by the Kentucky State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
