Career Development Seminar Offered for Kentucky’s Performing Artists
FRANKFORT, KY — The Kentucky Arts Council in partnership with the Mountain Arts Center, The Center for Rural Development and the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Offices is offering a full-day seminar to assist musicians, storytellers and dancers with issues of marketing and promotion, business practices and the variety of opportunities available to performing artists.
The seminar, Career Development in the Performing Arts will feature choices from a series of hour-long concurrent workshops and a roundtable luncheon to discuss the following topics.
- Opportunities for performing artists through the Kentucky Arts Council
- How to act as your own agent
- Promoting your music
- Building on your strengths as a performing artist
- Storytelling as a teaching tool
- Finding your niche in the marketplace
- Inspiring youth through performance
Career Development in the Performing Arts will be held on Monday, May 19, from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. EDT at the Mountain Arts Center, 50 Hal Rogers Drive, Prestonsburg, Ky. The seminar fee is $10, payable at the door. However, pre-registration is required.
