Frankfort, Kentucky – For the 25th year, Kentucky artisans will be a part of the festivities during the annual Governor’s Derby Breakfast, May 5th, 2007. The 38 exhibitors from the Kentucky Arts Council’s Kentucky Crafted and Visual Arts at the Market Program represent an increase over the 28 who participated in 2006, and their booths will be in a new location, lining both sides of Capital Avenue, approaching the Capitol Grounds in Frankfort.

Kentucky is recognized nationally as a leader in state programs that support a wealth of talented artists and craftspeople.  Featured exhibitors at the Governor’s Derby Breakfast are juried participants of the Kentucky Crafted and Visual Arts at the Market programs who have been selected for artistic merit.

Start your Derby Day with breakfast on the Capitol grounds, and support a Kentucky artisan by taking home a meaningful gift, made in Kentucky. Exhibitors will offer guests a variety of quality contemporary and traditional handmade ceramics, baskets, jewelry, clothing, wooden furniture, glass, metal works, organic and mixed media, plus seven unique 2-dimensional painters and photographers. (See exhibitor listing below)

Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the activities on the grounds will operate until 11:30 a.m. Shuttles will be offered to and from the Capitol from 6:30 a.m. 12:00 noon and from the Human Resources Building and the Kentucky History Center. The City of Frankfort’s buses are ADA equipped and will be available also.

Kentucky Crafted and the Visual Arts at the Market are programs of the Kentucky Arts Council, a state agency in the Commerce Cabinet, Commonwealth of Kentucky.  For more information, call 888 KY CRAFT (592-7238), local calls, (502) 564-8076, or visit the web site at www.kycraft.ky.gov.
