All three of these woodcarvers, create in-the-round figures which are whimsical and imaginative from a variety of woods. Some carvers use Cedar for the beauty in its color and the wonderful natural odor that emanates from the wood.

Thursday, October 02, 2008 A reception, book signing, and quilting demonstration will be held at the Kentucky Artisan Center on Saturday, October 4 to celebrate the release of Kentucky Quilt Trails: Views and Voices. This book features a selection of the quilt squares that have been appearing on barns, buildings, parks and other buildings across the Commonwealth. These painted quilt squares are part of a quilt trail being developed for travelers' enjoyment and to celebrate family and local heritage through the quilting tradition.

Saturday, June 07, 2008 On Saturday, June 14, two members of the co-op, David Appalachian Crafts will create painted gourd and quilted ornaments from 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea. David Appalachian Crafts celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year on July 19 in David, Kentucky, where the group is headquartered. Demonstrating at the Kentucky Artisan Center on June 14, will be director and quilter Ruth Ann Iwanski and gourd artist Lewis Newman.
- "Creatures & Characters: Works by Kentucky Woodcarvers" - New Exhibition at Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea
Saturday, May 31, 2008 The Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea’s newest exhibition, "Creatures & Characters: Works by Kentucky Woodcarvers", will be on display from June 7 – September 21, 2008. This exhibit showcases the many styles and techniques of Kentucky’s woodcarvers as they depict real or imagined ‘creatures’ and ‘characters.’
Featured in this exhibit is the work of 37 Kentucky woodcarvers from all across the state – from Pineville to Paducah – to Louisville to Ashland. There are in-the-round free standing sculptures – wall mounted works with relief carving – walking sticks and canes that utilize the natural form of trees and roots – whittled and ingenious folk art carvings – and carvings with stylized features and realism.
