Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky Historical Society’s Annual Business Meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 10 at the Old State Capitol in Frankfort.

The results of the Society’s 2006 election will be announced, filling open positions on the Kentucky Historical Society’s executive committee for 2007. The Kentucky Historical Society leadership will also present reports to members on its accomplishments and objectives. The meeting will also include the presentation of the Richard H. Collins Award. Named for one of the commonwealth's trailblazing historians, the Collins Award is given annually to the author of the Register article judged to have made the most outstanding contribution to Kentucky history. A panel of scholars in the field makes the selection, and the winner is honored at the KHS Annual Meeting and awarded a commemorative plaque and a $1,000 prize.

Prior to the business meeting, KHS will host a Veterans Tribute luncheon at noon in the Brown-Forman Room of the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History. The luncheon will feature a performance of the KHS Museum Theatre piece "Look for My Picture: Raising the Flag with Franklin Sousley". The play depicts the raising of the American flag on Iwo Jima through the eyes of Kentuckian Franklin Sousley. The cost is $18 for Kentucky Historical Society members and $23 for all other patrons. Following the business meeting, a reception honoring the publication of The Public Papers of Governor Martha Layne Collins, 1983-1987 will be held 3 p.m. at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.
