Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky Historical Society's Annual Business Meeting will be held at 5 p.m. ET Friday, November 9, at the Old State Capitol, 300 West Broadway in Frankfort, Ky.

The results of the Society's 2007 election will be announced, filling open positions on the Kentucky Historical Society's executive committee for 2008. The Kentucky Historical Society leadership will also present reports to members on its accomplishments and objectives. The meeting will also include the presentation of two awards given by the Kentucky Historical Society: the Richard H. Collins Award and the Governor's Award.

Named for one of the commonwealth's trailblazing historians, the Richard H. Collins Award is given annually to the author of The Register article judged to have made the most outstanding contribution to Kentucky history. A panel of scholars in the field makes the selection, and the winner is honored at the KHS Annual Meeting and awarded a commemorative plaque and a $1,000 prize. The Governor's Award is given every four years to the author of what is judged to be the best book on Kentucky history written during this period. The winner is awarded a commemorative plaque and a $1,000 prize.
