Frankfort, KY - This year's Boone Day celebration, a proud Kentucky Historical Society tradition for more than a century, is scheduled for June 16 from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in Frankfort.
This year's focus is the Kentucky Historical Society's new temporary exhibition, Our New Kentucky Home: Immigrant Experiences, which celebrates these evocative stories of families from the frontier to the present who have chosen Kentucky as their new home.
All visitors to the Kentucky Historical Society on June 16 will have the opportunity to visit Our New Kentucky Home: Immigrant Experiences and meet some of the families who have shared their stories in this exhibition; take in a KHS Museum Theatre performance---or two---and learn about the Italian immigrants who worked in Kentucky coal mines and understand the Bloody Monday conflict experienced by new immigrants to Louisville in the 19th century; see how to learn more about their family's history at our Martin F. Schmidt Library and with online resources and tour the Daniel Boone exhibition in the Kentucky Historical Society's HistoryMobile.
Adults and children can enjoy family activities throughout the day, including making their own scrapbook about their family's heritage and playing international games brought to Kentucky by immigrants throughout history.
Activities are open to the public, except where otherwise noted in the schedule. Admission to all museums and exhibitions is $4 adults, $2 youth (6-18), and children under 5 free.
Members receive free admission, behind-the-scenes tours, and a complimentary global luncheon featuring cuisine brought to Kentucky by immigrant families.

Held annually at the Kentucky Historical Society since 1897, Boone Day celebrates June 7, 1769, when Daniel Boone first saw Kentucky. Boone Day 2007 is a family event that helps families celebrate their traditions and the traditions of those of who have made Kentucky their home throughout history.
