Governor Beshear Appoints Members to Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists
FRANKFORT, KY – Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists to serve for terms expiring Feb. 1, 2010:
- Virginia Joann Pensinger, of Frankfort, is a retired administrative branch manager from the Kentucky State Treasury. She represents consumers. The appointment replaces Bobby Carol Noland, whose term has expired.
- Stephen Boyd, of Owensboro, is a partner and owner of Mr. Jim’s Beauty College and Mr. Jim’s Beauty Salon. He represents cosmetology salon owners. The appointment replaces Zenda S. Stakelbeck, whose term has expired.
The Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists is composed of five gubernatorial appointees. The board is charged with making periodic inspections of beauty salons and beauty schools in assigned areas, determining whether each individual and business has the required license and following up on complaints regarding those individuals working without licenses.
The board also investigates other violations of the law and inspects premises of salons and schools to determine compliance with sanitary standards and physical requirements as established by the board.
