Governor Beshear Appoints Member to Kentucky Registry of Election Finance
FRANKFORT, KY – Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed Rosemary F. Center to serve as a member of the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance. She represents the Democratic Executive Committee.
Center, of Frankfort, is a retired attorney. She previously served as General Counsel to the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance for almost 11 years. Center also served as the Wolfe County attorney becoming the first woman elected as a county attorney in Kentucky. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
The appointment replaces Brent A. McKim, who has resigned. Center shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Aug. 15, 2011.
The Kentucky Registry of Election Finance is composed of seven members, four of whom are appointed by the governor. It became effective in 1994 and is independent of any and all other agencies and departments of state government.
The registry administers and enforces the laws regulating the financing of state and local elections in Kentucky. It serves as the repository of candidates' and committees' periodic reports of campaign activity, making these documents available to the public, news media and other candidates.
