FRANKFORT, KY – Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed Enrico Ascani to serve as a member of the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Authority.

Ascani is a physician. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from Louisiana State University. Ascani and his wife, Marla, reside in Auxier. The appointment replaces Herbert J. Schardein Jr., whose term has expired. Ascani shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 4, 2011.

The Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Authority oversees all professional boxing, wrestling and full contact competitive bouts and exhibitions held in Kentucky. It licenses contestants, officials and promoters. The authority is attached to the Department of Public Protection for administrative purposes. Its members are appointed by the governor for three-year terms.
