Governor Beshear Appoints Members to State Supported Living Council
FRANKFORT, KY – Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed the following members to the State Supported Living Council to serve for terms expiring July 14, 2010:
- Jonathan W. Trimble, of Florence, is studying human services at Northern Kentucky University. Trimble represents the community at-large.
- Robert L. Sterrett, of Lexington, is a retired board member of Bluegrass Mental Health - Mental Retardation Board, Inc. He replaces Joel A. Thomas, whose term has expired. Sterrett represents professionals and providers of services to persons with a disability.
- Toni Reiss, of Lexington, is the primary service coordinator for First Steps, a statewide early intervention system which provides services to children with developmental disabilities. She replaces Douglas Riddell, whose term has expired. Reiss represents family members of a person with a disability.
- Thomas J. Simmons is a professor at the University of Louisville. He replaces Valerie R. Mudd, whose term has expired. Simmons represents persons with a disability.
The governor has reappointed the following members to the State Supported Living Council to serve for terms expiring July 14, 2010:
- Jane Phillips Kelly, of Frankfort, is a retired educator. She represents the community at-large.
- Richard N. Bush is an attorney in Louisville. Bush received his Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville. He represents family members of a person with a disability.
- David H. Allgood is a community advocate at the Center for Accessible Living in Louisville. He represents persons with a disability.
- Tedde Matranga, of Lexington, represents advocates for persons with a disability.
The State Supported Living Council is responsible for making recommendations to the Department for Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services for budget and priorities, for fund allocations for supported living services for persons with disabilities within the Commonwealth, and setting standards for quality assurance for persons with a disability who receive supported living services.
