Governor Steve Beshear Appoints Members to the Environmental Quality Commission
FRANKFORT, KY – Gov. Steve Beshear today appointed Arnita H. Gadson and reappointed Eugene A. Zick as members of the Environmental Quality Commission.
Gadson, 59, has spent the past 10 years as an Environmental Justice Coordinator with the University of Louisville. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Kentucky State University and her master’s degree from Webster University in St. Louis. Gadson replaces Laura M. Knoth.
Zick, 72, has over 40 years of experience in engineering and management. Retired from Logan Aluminum, Inc., he currently serves as the Mayor of Russellville. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. Zick and his wife, Jane, live in Russellville.
Both shall serve for a term expiring January 1, 2012.
Since 1972, the Kentucky Environmental Quality Commission, a seven-member citizen advisory board, has worked to strengthen the public role in solving environmental problems in our communities and the state.
The Commission was created under state law with a mission to facilitate public discussion and resolution of environmental issues, to promote partnerships to protect the environment for future generations, and to serve as an advisory board to the governor and other state officials on environmental matters.
